From 21st August 2006, the 5th Edinburgh International Internet Festival (E.I.I.Festival 2006) is inviting visual artists, galleries and creative organisations from the UK and around the world to participate in a series of online exhibitions and events via the festival's website at www.scotfestival.com
Originally created as a freely given gift to the international online creative community from disabled Edinburgh based artist and web designer PoL Steele, to date the festival has featured participants from over 55 nations and continues to hold the record set during 2000 when officially recognised as the 'largest online artistic event in Scottish internet history' (CreativeScotland).
The E.I.I.Festival 2006 opened on Beltane (1st May) with a series of local artistic and community based exhibitions and projects including a photographic celebration of Edinburgh's Beltane Fire Festival and the ACE IT Silver Surfers Festival 2006. Already the event has proved a major success at a local grassroots level with the result that over the summer a number of Edinburgh based community arts organisations will freely obtain their very first online presence via the event.
Visual artists and galleries wishing to participate in the series of E.I.I.Festival 2006 Exhibitions are requested to view the participation guide and complete the online application form via the festival's website at www.scotfestival.com or contact the event directly for further information via festival2006@scotfestival.com
Artists, galleries and creative organisations wishing to suggest or host their own themed exhibitions via the festival's website should also contact the festival via festival2006@scotfestival.com
