Blow-out! - A celebration of food in film
Blow-out! - A celebration of food in film
13 September 2006

On 19th September 2006, Inverness Film Fans present a special event to open their new Autumn Season, which is based on Food in Film. In cinema, food doesn’t simply satiate hunger, but is used to lay bare the dynamics of communities, families, relationships and individual characters. Issues of social class, eroticism, spirituality and cultural status top the menu in what will be a lively exploration of screen sustenance.

Mark Brownrigg, lecturer at Stirling University Department of Film & Media studies, who recently gave IFF! a fascinating and memorable talk on Film Music, returns for an exploration of junk food and futuristic delicacies, rural and urban meals, exotic and homely platters, gourmet grub and foul concoctions, all included in the appetizing bill of fare for this enlightening, fully-illustrated talk. Place and time for your diary are - Eden Court Cinema Screen Machine (outside the Bught Park Floral Hall) at 8pm on Tuesday, 19th September. The Box Office, in the foyer of the Floral Hall, opens 30 minutes before the event. All are welcome. Entrance £5 (£4 for IFF! members).

Details of all the films in the “Foodie” season are included in the Eden Court Theatre programme, and can be viewed on the IFF! web site at www.invernessfilmfans.org
