Entertainment with style this winter at Pitlochry Festival Theatre
Entertainment with style this winter at Pitlochry Festival Theatre
13 October 2006

Pitlochry Festival Theatre is delighted to announce its fourth Winter Season programme (October 2006 – April 2007). “The success of the first three winter seasons surpassed expectations, attracting and entertaining audiences from all over Scotland and beyond” commented Nikki Axford, PFT’s Chief Executive.

Perthshire Amber Festival, a weekend celebrating Dougie MacLean and his music has gone from strength to strength. It now features four evening concerts including a special appearance by Cara Dillon, a new Saturday night (28th Oct) post-concert ceilidh as well as a host of daytime events - workshops, talks, open mic sessions, and masterclasses.

In November, we welcome the return of former Les Miserables stars, for a west end spectacular as the Masters Of The House Sing the Musicals! whilst on Saturday 11th November, Monte Carlo comes to Highland Perthshire, as we ‘stage’ a Festival Casino Night. This fundraising evening will begin with a sparkling reception followed by close up card tricks as patrons play professional croupier tables. No prior experience required! With the odd moment of high drama from well kent faces from the Pitlochry stage and a delightful backdrop of musical entertainment, this promises to be an evening to remember.

And what better way to kick start the Year Of Highland Culture 2007 than by joining us for our four day literature festival, Winter Words, which returns in January. Packed with internationally renowned authors and literary stars such as Magnus Magnusson, John Simpson, William McIlvanney, Kathleen Jamie and James Robertson, this is the place, “where Scotland’s Literary year gets into gear”

Music lovers will delight in the return of The Locrian Ensemble with Carols by Candlelight, Katzenjammer and R3 Tenors whilst Kabaret SQ starring Una McLean and The Cotton Club Revue with The Harry Struthers Hot Rhythm Orchestra, featuring the Jiving Lindy Hoppers will make sure the season goes with a swing!

Richard Alred’s Watercolour Workshop on the 4th & 5th November kick starts our active arts programme of workshops and masterclasses. We’ve programmed popular favourites alongside new activities such as a Textile Taster Workshop, and a Directing Masterclass with PFT’s own artistic Director John Durnin.
