On Saturday October 28th Resolis Community Arts are hosting the final concert of a successful autumn tour for one of Scotland’s finest duos, Ivan Drever and Duncan Chisholm.
Respected Orkney musician, Ivan Drever is well known throughout the world of traditional music for his songwriting as well as his work with Scottish band Wolfstone and his highly successful partnership with fiddler Duncan Chisholm. Not only will you find his songs on Wolfstone albums, but the Dubliners and Davy Arthur have also recorded them. Recently he has been writing music for US based dancer Liam Harney.
Duncan Chisholm hails from Kirkhill in Ross-shire. He was taught to play fiddle from the age of eight by crofter Donald Riddell and has been at the forefront of Scottish fiddle playing for the last ten years. Early in his career Duncan was a Mod Medal winner and during the last five years has appeared with a number of Scottish artists both live and on recordings as a guest. He continues to work with Wolfstone as well as his work with Ivan and the Blazing Fiddles. Duncan has released two solo albums, " Red Point " and “Door of Saints”.
Resolis Community Arts commented, “We are very excited at the prospect of hosting these brilliant musicians. We are an active member of PAN (Promoters Art Network) which is holding its popular two day autumn Forum in Strathpeffer that week-end and we hope that many of the delegates will come over to Resolis to round off a lively two days. We believe that the quality, hospitality and atmosphere at Resolis is second to none and this is sure to be another great evening.”
The performance is in Resolis Memorial Hall at 8pm. Tickets £8 or £6 available on the door, but reservations strongly advised. Telephone 01381 610 204 or 01349 877 625 for information or reservations
