Kingussie’s Badenoch Centre will play venue to the talents of Chris Stout who is widely-regarded as the leading fiddle player of his generation both in Scotland and beyond
Chris is a former winner of Shetland’s “Young Fiddler of the Year” competition for traditional fiddling and Shetland’s “Young Musician of the Year” for performing a classical repertoire. He is also a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
His influences are clear – world, folk, jazz, but he defies categorisation, taking the rich fiddle tradition to exciting new levels of innovation.
In 1994 Chris released his stunning debut solo album First o’ the Darkenin’, and picked up nominations for Musician Of The Year and Best Traditional Track at the 2005 BBC Folk Awards.
Chris’s brilliant Quintet also features Eden court favourites Catriona McKay on clarsach and piano, Fraser Fifield on saxophone and Ewan Vernal on bass.
Not so much live music, but music alive. The Herald.
