The Helix aims to win up to £25m from the Big Lottery's Living Landmarks funding programme and is working up a Stage Two bid for submission in May 2007.

The Helix will be a living landmark, created to transform a place and change the lives of communities. 

The Helix will have at its heart sentinels, a series of iconic landmarks and imaginative site-specific interventions.

The Helix is looking for a Lead Artist to work with community groups and the project team (landscape architects, planners, engineers) to explore and develop the sentinels concept.

Budget: £10,000 to include Lead and, where appropriate, Supplementary Artist' fees.

Deadline: Friday 22 December 2006
