AN EDEN COURT IN EXILE EVENT
DAN ARBORISE
FRIDAY 09 FEBRUARY 8.00PM
AT THE BEAUFORT HOTEL, INVERNESS
Young guitarist and singer Dan Arborise, who has been described as John Martyn meets Nick Drake for the 21st century by IN THE MIX magazine, is to play Inverness’s Beaufort Hotel.
Dan’s tender and haunting vocals are a perfect match for his sensitive songs and beautiful acoustic guitar sound subtly enhanced by electronic guitar effects.
Dan was born amongst the jungles of Borneo to Polish parents. From there he moved via Nigeria to South London, where his teenage years were distracted by a classical training in both piano and guitar.
Brief spells in a Mediaeval Quartet, a Pink-Floyd tribute and a tap-dancing marathonicon ensued before he was headhunted for semi-legendary pop-punk combo Playground, whom the pre fame Ricky Gervais offered to manage.
Dan then gravitated towards acoustic guitar, inspired by Nick Drake, John Martyn and Julian Cope, and the sweet melodies, simple structure and heavenly harmonies of Glasgow's Teenage Fanclub. The songs soon began to flow and Dan began to evolve his unique style, playing clubs and venues throughout the UK.
His recent performances have been making a real impact in folk clubs, acoustic music venues and arts centres throughout the UK, including Lewes Guitar Festival, Green Man Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Glasgow's West End Festival and the Ullapool Guitar Festival. Dan has recently been touring nationwide, including supports for Thea Gilmore and John Martyn.
Dan's first album Around in Circles was released in 2006 to rave reviews.
This is a debut album that instantly allows Dan Arborise to pull up a chair alongside the likes of Jose Gonzalez and James Yorkston. THE WORD
