Volunteers Needed for FALCON Film Project (Art, Music & Drama)
Volunteers Needed for FALCON Film Project (Art, Music & Drama)
26 January 2007

FALCON Movie Making is a cause to Celebrate!! - The FALCON Project in Inverness (for adults with Learning and other Disabilities) has recently succeeded in finding over £22,000 enabling its Art, Music and Drama Groups to create a short film and are looking for Volunteers to assist.

FALCON itself will donate over £7,000 towards the Movie Project and the grant funding will be made up of £9,385 from Awards for All and £6,000 from the NHS organisation for special needs, Health and Happiness.

The Art, Music and Drama Groups will collaborate with a team of professional Arts Workers (recruited locally) and will work over a 6 month period to complete a 10 minute film. The theme of the film will be “Celebration” and a fictional storyboard with imaginary characters will be devised from the Groups’ own ideas. It will carry an affirming message about what people with Special Needs are able to do; that they can offer something of value and that they can make a positive contribution to society.

ART - The film will probably take the form of a silent movie with elements of Blue Screen (the ability to superimpose footage onto graphics and possibly animation). These graphics as well as all the design work for the film (scenery, costumes, props etc - even the design for the DVD cover!) will be created by the FALCON Project’s Art Group along with Farr based visual artist Caroline Inkle-Sharpe.

MUSIC - The Music Group, with local drum circle facilitator Steve Sharpe, will create the soundtrack which they will record professionally with a local recording studio and produce as a CD (with a cover also designed by the Art Group).

DRAMA - Along with Theatre Workers Kirree Seddon and Cathey Reece of Phoenix VP (a local Video Production company from Alness), the Drama Group will devise the storyboard and characters from everybody’s ideas and work as performers during the film shoot.

Another of the Movie Project’s purposes is to progress the Art, Music and Drama Groups into using new technology as well as moving from stage production to video. Group members will be able to participate in all aspects of making the film including, if they wish, camerawork and editing which will take place in June.

Volunteers also will be able to participate in any aspect of the film that interests them through providing support for Group Members in all different ways. This can include something as simple as helping Group Members with eating and drinking at break times (NB no personal care is required); helping Group Members to mix with their peers socially; helping Group Members to join in the creative work and reach their full potential through this project.

Anyone interested in helping Group Members to take part in making the movie should contact the FALCON Project at Volunteering Highland on 01463 711393
