Tickets for The Outsider, a brand new and ground-breaking festival taking place over the mid summer weekend in Rothiemurchus Forest in the Cairngorm National Park, will be available online from tomorrow, Thursday 22 February 2007.
Early Bird prices will be available up to 31 March 2007. Weekend tickets (Friday to Sunday) can be bought for the discounted price of £50, Friday night only £15, Saturday only £25 and tickets for Sunday will be £25.
After 31 March 2007, these tickets will rise to £65 for weekend pass, £20 for Friday night tickets, £35 for Saturday only and £35 for Sunday only. Children under 12 go free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Maximum of 3 children per adult.
Those wishing to camp can also purchase camping vouchers. These vouchers cost £10 per person and are valid for the whole weekend, again children go free.
The Festival includes access to all the stages, debates and comedy shows and a choice of on-site activities. A full range of off-site activities such as ranger led hikes, orienteering, woodland walks, pine marten and badger watching and water based-activities on Loch Morlich will be available on a first come first served basis. Details of the activity programme and a number of the artists appearing will be announced in early March.
As already announced The Outsider activities will also host major events in the UK’s fastest growing participation sports – mountain biking and a 12K run, both of which will leave from the festival arena.
Devised by Pete Irvine of Unique Events and Neil Dalgleish of Hillside, this new festival will be a landmark event, celebrating our important relationship with nature and the environment in the Highlands.
The Outsider Festival will be family friendly, organic, educational and most importantly edgy and entertaining. Unlike any other festivals, The Outsider will encourage festival-goers to leave the site in order to explore, appreciate and learn about their surroundings – Scotland’s most glorious scenery, the historic Rothiemurchus Estate at the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. It is one of the main events to be staged for Highland 2007.
The Outsider, while core funded by Highland 2007 and with the Scottish Executive’s It’s Our Future campaign as main sponsor, is also supported by HIE Inverness and East Highland, The Highland Council and the Cairngorm National Park Authority.
