An exhibition featuring thirty five local artists will be open to the public from Sunday 25th March in Market Street, Ullapool. The artists are all members of the Ullapool based visual arts organisation an talla solais. Work includes Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, Printing, Textiles and Photography with a wide range of styles and subjects. Many pieces are for sale and the exhibition will be open throughout the Easter holiday period until Sunday the 15th of April from 2 – 5pm every day.

Based in a previously derelict old library building, Ullapool Visual Arts began life officially in December 2004. The Gaelic name ’an talla solais’, ‘hall of light’ in English was adopted and a voluntary committee of local people began working towards establishing a Visual Arts Centre to serve the North West of Scotland.

Support for the project has grown both in the local community and more widely. Links have been made with the local schools and other community organisations. The programme includes exhibitions, workshops, courses and one off events all aimed at promoting visual arts and increasing access to creative opportunities.

Work continues with the Council and other bodies to move forward with plans to create a permanent Visual Arts Centre at the heart of Ullapool which will enhance the provision of local amenities and complement the existing facilities.
