Accompanying the hit BBC One television series Play it Again are a series of live events across Scotland, where thousands of people have a chance to play or sing with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and BBC Singers.
Open to everyone, no matter what your musical ability or experience, these free events in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Orkney are aimed at musical beginners or people who haven’t played in years, and who would like to, literally, Play it Again. Absolutely everyone can come along and take part.
So whether you’re a complete novice or a rusty returner, you’ll get lots of help from the professionals. If you have an instrument you can bring it along to play, and if you haven’t, then you can play the percussion instruments provided. You can also simply turn up and sing! There are five events across Scotland, part of a series of sessions taking place throughout the UK. The Scottish events are;
The Music Hall, Aberdeen, Saturday 28th April, 10.30am & 3.00pm; The Old Fruitmarket, City Halls, Glasgow, Saturday 19th May 10.30am & 3.00pm; The Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall, Orkney Saturday 23rd June 3.00pm.
The BBC One series Play it Again charts the progress of six celebrities Diane Abbott MP, Jo Brand, Aled Jones, Bill Oddie, Frank Skinner and Lord Robert Winston who experience the highs and lows of learning to play a musical instrument and performing it in public.
