Status Quo set to rock Scone Palace
23 April 2007

The organisers of ‘Live at Scone Palace’ have announced that top rockers Status Quo are to headline the third night of Scotland’s newest music festival. The group, described as ‘the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world’, will be bringing their ‘Just Doin’ It’ tour to Scone Palace near Perth on Sunday 29th July for what will be their only Scottish summer tour date.

‘Live at Scone Palace’ in association with the Stewart Milne Group is set to take place over three nights this summer, from 27th – 29th July. The Perthshire event complements the successful ‘Live on the Lawn’ concert series at Crathes Castle on Royal Deeside, which has attracted top artists including Van Morrison, James Brown and Paul Weller since it was launched eight years ago. The announcement that Status Quo are joining the line up at Scone Palace comes hot on the heels of confirmation that Jools Holland is to headline the first night.

Event One Management, organisers of ‘Live at Scone Palace’, anticipate that more than 15,000 people will attend ‘Live at Scone Palace’ over the course of three nights, making it one of the biggest events in the Scottish music calendar.

Gerry Muldoon of Event One Management said, ‘Status Quo are still one of the biggest names in rock and pop, and Scone is definitely the place to be on the 29th July. We’re expecting a real party atmosphere as the band play some of their all time classics. ’

‘Live at Scone Palace is already attracting huge interest with tickets for Jools Holland selling very well. The Quo gig is likely to be one of the hottest tickets of the year so we’d urge people to book now if they want to join in the fun’.

Glenn Allison, MD of the Stewart Milne Group said, ‘We are pleased to be supporting Live at Scone Palace in its inaugural year, and are delighted to see that the event is already attracting some of the biggest names in British music. We look forward to the festival becoming an established event in the Scottish music scene’

‘Live at Scone Palace’ is also supported by Perth & Kinross Council.

Event One Management have confirmed that they are currently approaching local bands to play support slots at this year’s festival. Gerry Muldoon from the company said, ‘There are a lot of talented bands in the local area, and Live at Scone Palace will provide them with an excellent promotional platform to reach a Scotland-wide audience’.

An announcement on the headline act for the second night of Live at Scone Palace is expected shortly.

Status Quo have been playing to audiences worldwide for 42 years, and have clocked up record sales of over 118 million. They have 62 British hit singles to their name, more than any other band, and have spent 418 weeks in the British Singles Chart. Their classic 1990 album ‘Rockin’ All Over the years’ album sold over 1.1m copies in Great Britain, reaching triple platinum status, and spent six months in the British Album Chart.

Their explosive new concert DVD ‘Just Doin’ It Live’ was released at the end of 2006. Filmed at their sell out 2006 concert at Birmingham NEC, the DVD is the band’s first ‘live in concert’ release for 15 years.
