This year's Aviemore Mountain Film Festival was officially declared the biggest and best yet, as organisers saw visitor figures reach over 1,500 during the course of the four days.

Running from 17th-20th May, the festival featured a diverse line-up of events including guest speakers, mountain bike trials and some of the most extreme mountain films ever shown on one screen!

The grand finale – the Jagermeister party - rocked beyond expectations, as some of the UK's best up and coming bands took to the stage.

Fresh from a sell out gigs in Copenhagan and the USA, Kid Ego – "the band you need to see in 2007" (Classic Rock magazine) crashed into town and bought one of the wildest rock'n'roll shows on the planet to the Highlands. Creating one hell of a stir, the band grabbed the audience firmly by the ears and belted out high-octane rock and roll set.

The evenings packed programme also saw top Scottish bands Darkwater, Underbelly, Sizequeen and Brummie greats, Curzon Circle blow the audience away with their phenomenal quality of originally penned songs tempered with a few covers of well-known rock classics.

An astounding lecture from internationally renowned Scottish mountaineer, Blythe Wright , and an awe-inspiring talk and film by members of the RAF Grantown expedition, on Thursday and Friday nights respectively, geared guests up to a Sunday out in the surrounding mountains on the festival's DIY day.

The majority of events over the course of the four days were free, but visitors were encouraged to donate money to the festival's sponsored charity, Disability Snowsport UK.

Festival Director, Dave Felce, said: "The success of this year's festival has been truly mind-blowing. We continue to grow every year, so it just goes to show that you don't have to plough mega-bucks into a festival to ensure its success. We're proud that we deliver a first class event on zero budget, and I'd personally like to thank everyone involved over the four days, and throughout the months of preparation, for all their hard work."

The success of the 2007 AMFF has further cemented the event as being one of the most innovative mountain film festivals in the UK.

Dave continues: "We're not scared to think outside the box and go for something different – whether it's music, films or guest speakers. The 2007 festival has paved the way for an even bigger and better event in 2008. You can be sure that next year's line-up will be even more of a shocker – my dream is to have a big mountaineering name, someone like Sir Ranulph Fiennes, share the stage with Marilyn Manson….so who knows what the future holds - we're really only just beginning!"
