Concert in aid of Moray Art Centre
Concert in aid of Moray Art Centre
15 June 2007

Local professional musicians will join forces on 16th June 2007 at the Universal Hall in Findhorn to perform at a gala concert in support of the new Moray Art Centre.

The evening promises to be a unique and special event with a sprinkling of surprises. Drinks and refreshments will be served in the adjoining Blue Angel Café both during and after the show.

The following artists will be performing:

Sonas, the all-woman a cappella trio, featuring Kate O'Connell, Heather Hatch and Carol Corkery, have been delighting Moray audiences for the past three years. With their tight harmonies, and passionate yet humorous and varied delivery, they weave a variety of musical styles including blues, folk, jazz, gospel and pop.

Apart from early classical training, Philip Stewart's musical roots are in mainstream jazz. He performs regularly with a number of excellent musicians in the North of Scotland, yet also enjoys playing his own compositions for solo piano which creatively explore moods in jazz "off the beaten track".

Two classically trained musicians and a percussionist rooted in African/Latin traditions form the Marama Trio. Andrew Tree, cello, Susanne Olbrich, piano, and Carol Scorer, percussion, offer a stimulating mix of original music inspired by the four corners of the globe, including wild and stirring tangos, and meditative, poetic soundscapes.

German-born pianist Susanne Olbrich has performed widely both as a soloist and with various ensembles. Her original piano compositions form a highly imaginative, unique and colourful style, transcending boundaries between classical, jazz and other musical genres.

Margot Henderson is a nationally acclaimed poet and storyteller with a repertoire of traditional stories and original performance pieces. She is a skilled and versatile performer whose blend of styles is both moving and uplifting. She combines passion, humour and creativity in her captivating songs, stories and sketches.

All are welcome to enjoy an enchanted evening of music and more!
