Inverness Town House Lunch-time Recitals – Volunteers Sought
03 September 2007

The new Bosendorfer Grand piano in Inverness Town House has seen excellent use since it purchase last October and it has been the mainstay of a very successful programme of lunch-time concerts. Some fourteen lunch-time events have been held to date attracting over one thousand people and raising £2500 for local charities. Now steps are afoot to secure the future of such events.

The concerts have given an opportunity to mainly young performers in the early stages of their professional careers, but also to new combinations of established performers. They have been received very well and the performers have all enjoyed playing the new piano which was purchased by Inverness Chamber Music Society and funded by Highland 2007 and Inverness Common Good Fund.

Highland Council Arts Officer Adrian Clark, who has run the programme to date, is moving north to become Area Cultural Officer for North Highland, and is keen that this popular programme continues. He is appealing for volunteers who would like to assist in taking part in a steering group and is inviting anyone interested to attend a meeting in the Town House on 11 September at 12.30pm.

The next lunchtime confirmed concert is with Roman Rudnytsky on 7 November. He is an internationally active concert pianist of Ukrainian background whose frequent performances take him all over the world.
