The Music of Composer James Douglas, as featured in the BBC series ‘Sahara with Michael Palin,’ has been performed all over the world; and now his music is also being heard right round the United Kingdom. A New CD of his music entitled: ‘Peace of the Highlands’ was launched in Ullapool in July 2007 and recently sales have been made in London, Liverpool, Iona, Holy Island, Glasgow, Inverness and all throughout the UK. The Inverness Courier recently quoted Douglas’ music as being: ‘Music inspired by the Melody of the Land.’
Closer to home, Ullapool based Composer James Douglas will give an inviting evening of music on Saturday 3rd November 2007 @ The Macphail Theatre in Ullapool, featuring much music from this CD and his other recordings, as well as the World Premiere of ‘Highland Glory’ for 2 fantastic trumpeters (Pam Brown and Alistair Neally), who will make a journey to Ullapool from the Central belt especially for the Concert.
The evening will also feature music reflecting Douglas’ love of the Highlands and especially of the stunning Mountains and Scenery. Douglas says himself: ‘I read a lot, I look at many paintings and photos from all over the world; …then, I write music...,’ music will also be included by Handel and Mozart. ‘Highland Glory gives its name to this Concert and it is anticipated that this reflects the quality, melody and excitement as featured in Douglas’ music.
