PHIL CUNNINGHAM AND ALY BAIN SATURDAY 3 NOVEMBER 8.00PM AT EDEN COURT
Eden Court is delighted to welcome Scottish traditional legends Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain for a sold out concert in the new Eden Court.
Phil and Aly are two of Scotland’s most gifted musicians and wonderful ambassadors for the nation’s culture across the globe.
They consider Eden Court to be their ‘home gig’ and have played many sold out concerts at the venue. In 2005 they were the final act to play Eden Court before its redevelopment and they will be the first to open the new venue.
Aly Bain is Scotland's supreme traditional style fiddler with a following of ardent fans throughout the world. He has received many honours for his services to music, including four Doctorates and an M.B.E., and numerous Honorary Citizenships in the USA.
Phil Cunningham is internationally regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative accordion players of recent years. He works as an acclaimed composer, music director, record producer and TV presenter. Phil was awarded the MBE in 2002 for services to Scottish Music and was voted Best Instrumentalist in the inaugural Scottish Traditional Music Awards in 2003
Phil and Aly have toured and recorded together since 1988 and to date they have recorded four albums, released on Aly's own record label Whirlie Records. In addition to their wonderful musicianship they are also famed for their onstage banter and they continue entertain packed venues across the world. In 2005 they received the BBC National Folk Award for 'Best Duo'.
