HI~Arts Short Story Competition 2007/08

Submissions are now invited for our 2007/08 Short Story Competition, from writers living in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland only. This year's theme is 'Winter'.  1st Prize £300 & A Place On HI~Arts Masterclass 2008!

Entries must be your own work, to a maximum of 3000 words and unpublished. Entries can be e-mailed (rtf or doc format) to Peter Urpeth - peter@hi-arts.co.uk  - or posted to our Inverness Offices - 4th Floor, Ballantyne House, 84 Academy Street, Inverness IV1 1LU. Entry is free, but only one story per writer permitted.

The closing date for entries is 12 noon, Thursday, 31st January 2008. Winner announced in February.

Please make your submission as follows - as our competitions are always judged anonymously, your short story must not have your name on it. Please send a seperate sheet with your name, name of short story and contact details, including your postcode and, where possible, a contact telephone number. Please note we are unable to return any submitted materials, so do not send us your only copy of your work! Our judge's decision on all matters relating to this competition is final and no correspondance or negotiation will be entered into. Entrants are not permitted to discuss this competition or their submission with our judge.

The winning entry will be published on this website, and by entering the competition you consent to such publication.

The winner will receive a prize of £300, plus a place on HI~Arts Masterclass 2008 (full details below). Please check the dates to ensure that you are available to attend should you win the competition.

Our judge this year is novelist, poet and playwright, Kevin MacNeil.
