Kevin McNeil Micro-Residency
Kevin McNeil Micro-Residency
18 January 2008

Award winning poet, novelist and songwriter Kevin McNeil is set to make a return visit to Shetland in February 2008 in order to take up a brief creative writing residency.

Kevin, whose collection of poetry, Love and Zen in the Outer Hebrides won the prestigious Tivoli Europa Giovani International Poetry Prize in 2000 was at Wordplay 2007 during which he delivered an inspirational creative writing workshop as well as giving a reading of his poetry. He has also published a novel, The Stornoway Way in 2005 and is currently in Stornoway, recording tracks for an album of songs.

Shetland Arts Literature Development Officer, Donald Anderson said, “we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Kevin back to Shetland. As well as being a fine writer and an excellent reader of his work, Kevin is very good at leading workshops and has a great deal of experience teaching creative writing. This promises to be a great opportunity for writers in Shetland to develop their own writing skills”

Kevin will be in Shetland for the whole of February, during which time he will give public readings of his work and deliver a series of workshops on a variety of creative writing. He will also be available to offer one-to-one support to anyone currently writing in Shetland.

Anyone wishing further information or to book a place either on the workshops or a one-to-one consulting session with Kevin should contact Donald Anderson on 01595 743 843 or by email: donald.anderson@shetlandarts.org by Monday, January 28th
