For artists in Moray who have decided that their New Year’s resolution is to start a new career or improve their existing one, Moray Art Centre has an event to help kick start ideas on Sunday 27 January from 2pm till 4pm.

Author of ‘Painting For Your Living’ and ‘A Proper Living From Your Art’, Harley Miller has given talks across the UK about how to make it as an artist. As full time visual artist himself Harley believes that “…it serves our profession to help other artists become well established and financially viable.” His class, “A Proper Living from Your Art” is for any artist, established or new, who wants to start the New Year with a new attitude to make their art produce a proper income!

The class takes place at Moray Art Centre on Sunday 27 January from 2-4pm, (£5 entry free including refreshments). Randy Klinger the Centre’s Director said “ This is one of many classes we hope to run over the year to encourage and support artists. Moray has a wealth of talent which is so often lost to the big cities and it is one of Moray Art Centre’s main aims to support the growth and sustainability of the arts in the area.” It is a known fact that Moray has a ‘brain drain’ problem and this is also reflected in the arts as many choose to move to the Central Belt or even London to pursue an art career, so any advice to part-time and full-time artists is so valuable.
