Competition now open!

As well as the pitching opportunity, you'll also be able to network with other writers, producers, directors and developers by selling your idea and yourself. Several writers from the last two years' pitching competitions have already gone onto bigger, better things and have had their ideas optioned, been commissioned to write an original screenplay, or been snapped up by an agent.

No pitching expertise necessary - part of the prize is an intense pitching masterclass with agent Julian Friedmann.

From all of the entries received, we will shortlist ten to attend the festival on Tuesday 3rd, and have a special coaching session on the Wednesday 4th July before the live pitching session.

How to enter
Write down your pitch in 25 words or less, then on a separate page expand the synopsis to 150 words. Email it to pitch@screenwritersfestival.com.
Please make sure you also tell us your name and the idea title.

What will happen next?
Ten writers will be chosen to go forward to the live pitching event at the Festival, where they will pitch their ideas to the panel of industry experts and the audience. The ten finalists receive a free ticket to the whole festival.

Prior to the pitching session, agent Julian Friedmann will hold an intense private pitching lesson for the ten finalists.
After pitching, all writers receive expert feedback. Out of the ten pitchers, the panel will choose three winners. The three winners will then get the chance to talk directly to Film4 Executives about their ideas.

All shortlisted entrants will be interviewed and featured on the 4Talent website, giving exposure to a global audience of peers and industry professionals.

Closing date for entries is midnight Friday 29 February 2008. Winners will be informed w/c Monday 17 March 2008.
