Eden Court offers eclectic Theatre line-up

Eden Court is presenting a varied line-up of theatre performances in late February and early March, taking in drama, dance, folk, kids’ shows, blues and traditional music.

Selected highlights include:

Dance

OFF THE EDGE WITH EDEN COURT
LAYERZ
SATURDAY 23 FEBRUARY 7.30PM
IN THE ONE TOUCH THEATRE

Talented local dancers will showcase the history of jazz dance over the last 100 years. Layerz is choreographed by Eden Court's Dance Artist, Louise Marshall, and involves performers from the Inverness based Off The Edge community dance group, Eden Court’s Inverness Youth Dance Company (aged 12-20yrs) and local jazz band 4 on 6 who will provide live music.

For this project Off The Edge received funding from Awards for All Scotland, a grants scheme supported by the Scottish Arts Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund.

FAIRPORT CONVENTION

IN THE ONETOUCH THEATRE

The legendary originators of British folk-rock present an exciting mix of the old and new, with classic tracks such as Matty Groves sharing the bill with new songs from the band's fortieth anniversary album Sense of Occasion.

THE BLUES BAND
FRIDAY 29 FEBRUARY 8.00PM
IN THE EMPIRE THEATRE

Eden Court favourites The Blues Band are widely acknowledged as one of Europe’s finest purveyors of R&B. The group’s singer is Paul Jones, who starred in legendary Sixties’ group Manfred Mann. Paul also currently presents a long running Rhythm And Blues show on Radio 2.

FRASER FIFIELD WITH THE NEDYALKO NEDYALKOV QUARTET
SATURDAY 1 MARCH 7.30PM
IN THE ONETOUCH THEATRE

Scotland meets Bulgaria as top musicians from each country lead their respective bands on a tour that features sets from both groups plus extensive collaborations. Fraser Fifield (Old Blind Dogs’) leads one of the most distinctive groups in Scotland today with highly developed compositions and reworked music from the Scottish tradition. The Nedyalko Nedyalkov Quartet, are four of the most talented and respected musicians in Bulgaria today.

Box Club are the new young accordion super-group, featuring the frontline talents of Gary Innes, John Somerville, Mairearad Green and Angus Lyon, backed up by guitarist Mike Bryan, bassist Duncan Lyall and percussionist Martin O'Neill.

In Martha a lonely old woman’s life is transformed by the arrival of a goose. This is an award winning kids’ show about friendship and trust, which has played on Broadway. Martha is suitable for everyone aged 4+.

SUSPECT CULTURE AND GRAEAE IN ASSOCIATION WITH TRON THEATRE

IN THE ONETOUCH THEATRE

Innovative new drama Static fuses music, sign language and audio description to explore communication, love and loss. Static tells the story of a young woman who has lost her husband. Discovering a compilation tape that he made but never gave her, she becomes convinced it contains a secret message. Is he trying to communicate with her from beyond the grave?
