The Promoters Arts Network in the Highlands and Islands is seeking to appoint three part-time development officers to support the work of local rural arts promoters – specifically in audience development, marketing and programme development.

Local Arts Events promotion is steadily developing in the Highlands and Islands with around 100 local promoters who are members of PAN. PAN will develop three pilot local networks: Black Isle and Easter Ross, with up to 10 members; Orkney (and Shetland), with around 6 Members; Part of Argyll, with up to 10 members.

It is expected that the development officers appointed will be self-employed and have their own office space. Each officer would work with the local network, supported by the PAN administration and ultimately be responsible to the PAN Board.

The work involved depends on the needs and skills of the local members. The Main duties will be to liaise with local promoters in the area, with PAN Board and PAN’s Administration; Develop strategies for audience development, event marketing and programme development; Undertake administrative work to support local promoters in this development; Create and develop the local network in shared aims and objectives; Write a three year local development plan and budgets; Deliver a support programme using the local budget.

The post is initially for one year on a part-time basis of two days a week. The contract is up to pro-rata £18,000 pa depending on skills and experience, with expenses. Each project will have an additional budget of £6,000 for development schemes developed in each area.
