During 2008 Arts & Business Scotland plan to mount a ‘Dragons Den’ for arts sponsorship, designed to help staff in arts organisations develop their skills at pitching sponsorship proposals and to promote arts sponsorship to business.
They will select six arts organisations to make a sponsorship pitch for an arts project aimed at promoting participation in the arts for young people between the ages of 10 and 19 who have had no or little chance to experience the arts in the past.
There will be three to four businesses acting as the ‘business dragons’ and each will bring £7,500 to the table. Arts & Business Scotland hope that any sponsorship they decide to make can be matched by an A&B matching sponsorship award and thus a successful arts organisation might get £15,000 towards their project.
The event will be open to the public and they would hope to attract other business people as it would provide an entertaining opportunity for them to hear more about how the arts can assist with disadvantage among young people.
