THURSO PLAYERS PRESENT
A DOLL'S HOUSE
BY HENRY IBSEN
TUESDAY 01 - FRIDAY 04 APRIL 8.00PM
IN THE MILL, THURSO
SATURDAY 05 APRIL 8.00PM
IN THE JIM LOVE STUDIO, EDEN COURT
Thurso Players will perform Ibsen's classic play A Doll's House at The Mill, Thurso and Eden Court next week.
The production is being directed by Eden Court's Out of Eden drama worker for Caithness, David Hunter.
Written by Henrik Ibsen the play examines the fragile nature of Nineteenth Century family life. The happy marriage of Torvald and Nora Helmer is endangered when a secret from Nora's past returns to haunt them.
This enduring play was one which changed the face of drama at the turn of the Twentieth Century, causing controversy when it was first performed. Still relevant today, the play examines the fundamental relationships between the sexes.
There are six actors involved in the show, with other members tackling stage management, set building, lighting and props.
The players have been busy rehearsing the production for the last seven weeks.
Thurso Players are an amateur company based in their own theatre, the Mill Theatre in Thurso. The company perform around six shows a year ranging from pantomime to musicals to serious drama.
David Hunter said:
"It has been wonderful to work with such a willing cast. They have worked incredibly hard on developing this version of Ibsen's classic play to the people of Caithness and Inverness. "
David will be involved with a number of projects in the coming months. He will be directing Pirates of Penzance for High School Pupils at Thurso High School, and working with Farr and Wick High Schools on summer shows.
David will also be producing a community project for all ages for the Silver Darlings day in June in Lybster. Kids from the Ormlie area in Thurso can also get involved in a puppet project.
