1. Conference Registration
Remember, the final date for submitting abstract proposals is 1 September 2008. You are welcome to submit earlier. Conference registration opens on 1 October 2008.
2. Conference Accommodation
The Shetland Hotel is offering discounted rates for conference participants (£69 single, £89 double). Be sure to ask for the special 'Taking Shetland out of the Box' rate when making your reservation by telephone at +44 (0)1595-695515.
There are many other accommodation options available in Lerwick, including bed and breakfasts, guest houses, and a hostel.
If you are a student and are interested in the possibility of being hosted by a local individual or family, please contact the convenor.
3. Pre-Conference Events
The initial day of the conference, 7 May 2009, will consist of a bus trip to Shetland's North Mainland and a dinner at the Grand Hotel. Depending on demand, it may be possible to arrange events and/or tours earlier in the week for participants who arrive prior to the conference for the sake of attending the 2009 Shetland Folk Festival the previous weekend. If you might be interested in participating in events and/or tours during the period of 4-6 May 2009, please contact the convenor.
