Juno Presents a Spring Exhibition of New Works by Two Contemporary Artists: Janis Mennie & Dermot Curnyn.
Although born in Edinburgh, Janis Mennie is a ‘Weegie’ at heart. She graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 1971.
Janis also spent some of her younger years living in Dunoon & she remembers those years with affection, however she now lives & paints from her studio in Ross-shire. Having lost her sense of hearing she has developed a keen visual sense of her surroundings. Her interpretation of buildings & the surrounding landscape are painted in unusual light & odd juxtapositions. Her style since previously exhibiting at Juno has become a lot looser & more personal developing a semi abstract way of working which relies on her memories rather than specific visual stimuli.
Dermot Curnyn formally of Dunoon currently teaches Art at Dundee College. He paints in watercolour keely observing everyday objects, crumbling buildings, old doors & locks have a fascination for him. He studies the subject matter becoming totally absorbed in the colour & texture of the subject producing fantastic paintings of rustic time worn architecture . |

| Description: |
By popular demand Juno Design Gallery has moved to Dunoon Town Centre.
This Bijou Art Space was formed in 2002 in Kirn in Argyll, by mother & daughter, Maria & Joanne Mackellar who are both graduates in Textile & Jewellery from the Glasgow School of Art. Their main aim was to provide a space to exhibit not only their own work but also that of other Contemporary Artists from across the UK & beyond, including all disciplines of Design & Fine Art. This new space in the centre of town catering for an even wider audience will provide seasonal mixed Painting Exhibitions along with two exciting Solo Exhibitions per year. ‘We are keen to provide a contemporary space for the public of all ages to take an interest in good Art works, whether you are a connoisseur or just curious, you are very welcome to browse the scarves, jewellery, ceramics, hand made cards, prints & paintings in the gallery. This year we have unique work sourced from France, Italy & Germany, England & Scotland. We are keen to keep changing and bringing new and exciting work, which cannot be easily found even in our Scottish Cities. Many of the art works are produced by recent Art School graduates & designers. The painting exhibition programme for the year is different and varied, including some previously not seen talent’ Contact us for full list for 2005 web site for images of works on exhibition www.junogallery.com.
