Julie and Julia (12A)
Taking place on 19 March 2010
Categories: Arts, Film
Description: Julie (Amy Adams), a bored office worker, conceives a blog project to spend a year working through the recipes in the American classic cookbook, Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. The story of how this was written by Julia (Meryl Streep in a flamboyant characterisation) runs parallel. The two women never meet except in their destinies. Presented by Gable End Film Society.

how do I get there?
Description: Against the backdrop of the Hoy hills a group of local theatre enthusiasts has produced the unexpected. The Gable End is a delightful small theatre conversion of the former North Walls school building, boasting a 75-seat raked auditorium. The theatre has charitable status and is run by volunteers. One of its objectives is to provide a home for the amateur Hoy and Walls Entertainments Group, which stages an annual pantomime among other productions. The Gable End has also, however, attracted interest from professional players, from Britain and abroad, and musical events are a regular feature. The island of Hoy, with its population of about 400, lies a half-hour ferry ride away from the Houton terminal on the Orkney Mainland.
