Ann started her own business in 1996 after graduating from Edinburgh College of Art with a Post Graduate Diploma in Jewellery, and two years later she was invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace held to recognise the achievements of young adults who had excelled in their particular field.
She has exhibited extensively throughout the UK with pieces held in the public collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery and the National Museum of Scotland. She was invited to exhibit in an Enamel Exhibition by the Velvet da Vinci Gallery in San Franciso, USA and was included in ‘100% Proof’, an exhibition of Scottish jewellers and silversmiths, which toured the USA in 2001.
She co-wrote the book ‘Teach Yourself Jewellery’ and as well as teaching at Edinburgh College of Art runs workshops on enamelling. During a week residency in Shetland, organised by the Bonhoga Gallery and sponsored by the Shetland Arts Trust, she ran an enamelling workshop and school workshops.
Ann focuses on enamel in her jewellery and in her recent work she uses rounded shapes and matt enamels with subtle variations in colour. She has made nine brooches which form the palette for the rest of her work. This work is in complete contrast to the pieces she was making last year which were very decorative.
