During each residency, Marcus worked with these centres, their staff and audiences to develop marketing strategies that could then be implemented and monitored effectively. In addition, training and practical marketing work was offered at many of the centres and to local artists. The outcomes and findings of the Visual Arts Marketing Project were published in August 2002 in a Final Public Report.
Since then, Marcus has worked to support a wide range of cultural organisations across the Highlands and Islands with their audience development strategy, which developing a number of high profile projects and services for the arts sector, including thebooth online ticketing service (www.thebooth.co.uk), the HI-Arts Journal (www.hi-arts.co.uk) and AudienceBase (a new and free software package used to collect audience data and conduct marketing campaigns).
Marcus' career began in his home town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, where he worked for a number of years in the town's Theatre Box Office, prior to becoming the Marketing Officer for the organisation.
Following a short period of work with arts festivals, Marcus moved to London to work in events management with International Students House - the largest international students' membership organisation in the UK and a cultural melting pot! |
