| I am not currently involved in any organisational role for the arts, but as a local wordsmith would hope that Highland 2007 will be able to highlight the excellence of Highland writing, the wealth of talent across the area in all the forms, celebrating the established and encouraging new talent. |

| Book festivals in the area have been considerable successes. A book festival of the North would be exciting, matching Highland writers with writers from similar latitudes – Scandinavia, Iceland, Cape Breton, Canada, Alaska. Film too: why not combine it with a film and music festival? I'm looking forward to it already. Novelist and poet |
