Caithness & Sutherland Gallery Guide

The Visual Arts scene in Sutherland is dynamic and thriving with internationally-acclaimed as well as amateur artists working in a variety of media. A Visual Arts Sutherland (VAS) Agency has been formed to create new visual arts marketing opportunities and to address the need for artists’ collaborations and international exchanges.

Writer Neil Gunn called Caithness "a land of exquisite beauty." Indeed, it is a natural magnet for visual artists. Caithness boasts two excellent Council-run galleries and North Lands Creative Glass in Lybster is an international centre for modern glass art.
