Voluntary Arts Scotland is hoping to address the lack of provision for people involved in the administration or management of voluntary arts and crafts to increase their skills and have compiled a short 'Working Knowledge' survey and are looking for those involved in this sector to take part in this.

| WASPS Studios Has Inverness In Sights |

The charity WASPS studios which provides artists' studios across Scotland is looking to provide studio space in the Highlands and Islands and Stirlingshire. WASPS Studios has forged a £3 million partnership with the Scottish Arts Council to develop at least five new studios in the next five years.

Cromarty Arts Trust are holding their Annual Christmas Art Sale at the beautifully restored Stables Gallery from Thursday 4 December to Sunday 14 December 2008. Entry is open to any artist to enter up to 3 pieces of 2 dimensional work, either framed or unframed. Cards are also welcome.

| Museum Residency - Contemporary Basketmaking |

The Victoria and Albert Museum and the Crafts Council are collaborating on a series of three six month residencies in the Sackler Centre for arts education at the V&A. They are inviting applications from mid-career and established artists and makers working in Contemporary Basketry, or with an interest in working with this discipline. The deadline for applications is 5 December 2008.

Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Arts Centre on North Uist is organising a Knitted Fish Auction as part of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution's (RNLI) Yellow Wellie Challenge. This will go live onto Ebay on 25 November until midday on 5 December 2008.

| First Jerwood Contemporary Makers Exhibition Visits Scotland |

Seven makers, working at different stages of their careers and in a range of craft disciplines, come together for the first Jerwood Contemporary Makers exhibition which opened in Edinburgh on the 14 November 2008.
The exhibition, which can be seen at the Dovecot from 14 November 2008 until the end of January 2009, is set to challenge and intrigue, showing craft in a new and unexpected way.

| Grants for Craft Training |

The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) makes awards ranging from £1,000 to £15,000 to craftsmen and women of all ages to help them further their careers. Since 1991 the Trust has awarded over £1,215,000 to 191 craftspeople aged between 17 and 50 plus for study, training and work experience.
QEST was established in 1990 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Warrant Holders Association and the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Scholarships are awarded twice a year. Completed forms for Spring 2009 Scholarships must be received not later than 9 January 2009.

| Weaving Scholarship - Applications Invited |

The Incorporation of Weavers Trades House Glasgow has announced a scholarship specifically for weavers.
This grant could be used to assist the applicant in developing their skills of weaving, to help with a travel sabbatical, or purchase equipment to further their weaving career. The fund will be available early in 2009. The deadline for applications is 31 January 2009.
