Leading Lights of Scottish music launch debut album

Originally hailing form Inverness Scottish harp and song duo Gillian Fleetwood and Fraya Thomsen have recently been described as “two of the most exciting exponents of the Scottish Harp”. They are about to launch their debut album Tree of Strings which is the result of hard work and two very impressive music careers to date.

Celtic Connections 2008 saw The Duplets working with luminaries Mary Macmaster and Patsy Seddon where they were spotlighted as part of the world premier of Harp Heaven: “Twelve of the most amazing harpists on the planet ensured those fortunate enough to be in the crowd left this rare Celtic Connections concert certain they had witnessed a small slice of Paradise. ***** ” The Scotsman.

With acclaimed producer Duncan Lyall (Box Club) at the Helm The Duplets debut album -Tree of Strings- hosts an array of stars from the Scottish Traditional music world including Gabe Macvarish (Daimh), Donald Hay (The Unusual Suspects) and Tam 'the banjo' Kinsella (The Squashy Bag Dance Band). In bringing these forces together The Duplets have shaped a timely musical expression set to become a classic.

Amongst their busy schedules composing, teaching music and playing in an array of bands, and with the help of director John McGeoch, The Duplets also managed to make a music video with an unmissable dance routine. This can be viewed at www.myspace.com/theduplets.

The Duplets will be launching Tree of Strings on 25th August 2008 at Eden Court's Bishops Palace at 8pm. Tickets are free and include complimentary celebration drink, but are limited.
