Fleeto - 2 Boys, 1 Murder, 2 Victims
25 August 2008

As part of their national tour, V.AMP Productions are bringing Fleeto, written and directed by Paddy Cunneen to the Red Shoes Theatre, Elgin on the 1st October, and The Universal Hall, Findhorn on the 3rd October 2008. Fleeto uses emotionally intense performances to examine the devastating consequences surrounding the current social problem of knife gangs, endemic in so many communities. With a cast of four and a playing time of one hour, the piece achieves its epic feel and impact by integrating the language of contemporary Glasgow gangs with a Shakespearean verse form.

Working in partnership with Moray Council’s Arts Development Team, V.AMP Productions are offering the opportunity for a local group of young people to be the gang of youths in the play. Paddy Cunneen and local professional theatre director, Chris Lee, will work with this group prior to the performances.

The Arts Development team is looking for young people aged 14 years and over who would love the opportunity to work with a professional theatre company. We would like to involve young people who have never experienced theatre before along with those who already have a keen interest in the performing arts. The group will learn about drama, movement, voice and performance skills, as well as learning to work positively in a group and building confidence. Up to twelve young people will be given the opportunity to perform in the play - six at each performance. Participants will need to commit to a number of Wednesday evening (5-7pm) sessions plus additional sessions in the performance week. Participants should also be aware that the play contains extremely strong language.

Fleeto is promoted through NEAT (North East Arts Touring) and tickets for performances (at 7.30pm) are available on 01343 548614 (Red Shoes Theatre), 01309 690110 (Universal Hall) and on line at www.thebooth.co.uk

If you are interested in taking part in this exciting project you can find out more by coming to an open meeting at Moray Music Centre, Francis Place, Elgin on Wednesday 3rd September at 5pm.
