27 August 2008

Caroline Bury, Cromarty Arts Trust 2008 Student Residency Prize-winner is having an small exhibition of the work she has produced during her residency, in her Studio in Cromarty, on Friday. The Student Prize is awarded annually to a recent graduate of the Art Schools in Scotland, and has been running for the past three years. Caroline Graduated from Moray College, and has been spending her month-long residency painting some beautiful figurative work, inspired by a ceilidh she attended in the town, and using mixed media to produce some dramatic landscapes.

She has also worked with a group of young Cromarty people centred around their hopes, dreams concerns fears and passions. It proved a stimulating range of topics and the young folk produced some very emotive and strong work, in a very short time.

She also managed to find the time to lead an evening of Tribal Fusion Belly Dancing to a group of over 20 enthusiastic Cromarty women. "We had such great fun - we're still smiling about it!" commented one participant. Caroline says "My time at Cromarty has been fantastic and invaluable! With 2 art workshops and one of dance , just being here has inspired me in many ways. "

Exhibition from 7pm Friday 29th August in the Stables Studios, Cromarty. The Cromarty Art Group Exhibition will also be open in the main gallery.
