| 27 August 2008 Inverness Arts Forum is delighted to announce that the next event in the Lunchtime Concert Series in Inverness Town House will be a recital by acclaimed pianist Jill Crossland on Thursday 11th September at 1.00pm Yorkshire-born Jill Crossland has been playing the piano since the age of four. She studied at Chethams and the Royal Northern College of Music with Charles Hopkins and Ryszard Bakst, and in Vienna with Paul Badura-Skoda Jill is now based in London from where she enjoys a busy international career, having performed recently at the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna; her Inverness recital is a preview of her forthcoming concert at the Leipzig Gewandhaus. She plays regularly on the South Bank and at the Wigmore Hall in London, and her recent appearances have also included Bridgewater and Fairfield Halls, St George’s Bristol and the Sage Gateshead. Jill’s recordings include the Bach Goldberg Variations on Warner Classics and works by Handel, Scarlatti, Mozart and Beethoven. Jill has featured in the Classic FM Hall of Fame and her recent release of the complete Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier for Signum Classics has received high praise on both sides of the Atlantic, including being featured recently on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune. Jill’s concert on the Inverness Bosendorfer grand piano will be a sonata by Scarlatti, a selection from Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier and Six Bagatelles by Beethoven Op 126. It will be part of a short tour of the north of Scotland. Tickets will be available on the door at £4 (Concessions £3).
