Donnie Mackay an archaeologist and photographer from the Isle of Skye has just been announced as one of five Category winners in CIWEM’s prestigious international ‘Environmental Photographer of the Year Competition 2008’ and attends the ceremony at The Art Pavilion in Mile End Park in London on the 17th of September to receive the Black & Veatch sponsored ‘World of Difference’ award for his photo entitled ‘The Wind Collector’, of a domestic wind turbine in Liceasto on the Isle of Harris. This image is one of over 500 on Donnie's popular photohebrides internet blog (www.photohebrides.org.uk ) and was picked from more than 1,400 international entries by the judges for its colour, composition, quality and message.
