| Book launch at Ceolas conference | |
| 03 September 2008 Lachlan Morrison launched a reprint of his father Padruig’s book “Thugam agus Bhuam” on the Saturday night (23 August 2008) of Ceòlas “Trusadh nam Fonn” conference at Polochar Inn.
The book is stories Padruig collected from Grimsay and songs by Padruig himself. The evening began with a meal after which Lachlan signed copies of the book. He chatted to participants about why the book had been reprinted by the Grimsay Community Association. He also made a small speech about the contents of the book, which also includes two CD’s: on one Lachlan sings his father’s songs and the other has one of the stories as recorded by the School of Scottish studies being told by Lachlan’s father and is contained in the book. This was followed by song from Lachlan which was accompanied by his young son Padruig on accordion. Padruig played a selection of tunes which was followed by a short cèilidh with some of the best Gaelic singers in Scotland: Margaret Callan, Kenna Campbell, Margaret Bennett, Paul McCallum, Gillebride MacMillan, Jennifer Speirs and Rena Gertz from the Lothian Gaelic Choir sang a duet. Two local brothers form a family of poets and singers: Donald Anthony and Donald Ruairidh Campbell both sang. The Ceòlas group, Alana MacInnes, Amy MacAulay, Robert Gilles and Gillebride sang a short section of their repertoire from their visit to Ireland. | |
