Gilmore Productions, the Glasgow based dance company led by Artistic Director Natasha Gilmore, are to tour their entertaining new production, The Blank Album, around the UK from 26th September. A high energy piece which combines rock music, pop imagery and complex choreography directed by Natasha Gilmore, The Blank Album features music composed by Quee McArthur of Shooglenifty, the maverick Scottish band whose unique blend of dance vibes and roots music has earned them a huge following.
With a cast of multi-talented dance artists/musicians, Natasha has created a string of blistering dance ‘singles’ which looks at the dynamics of a band of tour – the on/offstage relationships and idiosyncratic sense of humour of the artist protagonists. Performed live on stage with guitars, fiddle, cello, percussion and voice, the music and movement are completely intertwined. The performers are totally convincing both as musicians and as dancers, playing, singing and dancing at the same time. Laced with references to popular culture, The Blank Album is fast paced, unpretentious and self-assured and genuinely connects with both a teenage and adult audience.
