The next recital in the Inverness Arts Forum Lunchtime Concert Series will be on Friday 14th November in the Main Hall of Inverness Town House at 1.10pm.
For her return visit to the Lunchtime Concert Series, local musician Hannah Phillips will be performing on both pedal harp and clarsach in a fifty minute programme of works by Eddie McGuire, Paul Hindemith, Gabriel Fauré and Sally Beamish as well as a selection of traditional Scottish airs.
Hannah grew up in the Highlands and has been playing the clarsach for many years under the tutelage of Heather Yule. Since 2005 she has been studying both clarsach and pedal harp at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow where her list of teachers reads like a Who’s Who of the world of clarsach and harp.
Hannah is passionate about solo and chamber music. She loves performing music from a wide spectrum of eras and genres. She is particularly interested in new music and has given first performances of works for solo harp, clarsach and duo. As well as giving regular performances, Hannah is working with Eddie McGuire, Director of the Scottish Music Centre, on a piece for both harp and clarsach which has been commissioned on her behalf by Inverness Arts Forum with a grant from the Highland 2007 Legacy Fund. It will be premiered next September in Inverness as part of The Homecoming 2009 celebrations.
