| Nairnia 2008 - The Winter Procession | |
| 14 November 2008 With plans underway for Nairnia to become an annual event, without doubt one of the plumb roles must surely be to play the part of one of the Nairnia children - Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. But it’s more than a simple acting role. There is the chance to rehearse with professional street artistes from Scotland’s outdoor performing arts company, te POOKa, who make a welcome return to Nairn; get all close up and personal with an estimated audience of 3,000 Nairnites; get snowed on as you appear out of the wardrobe; get to wear terrific costumes including a fur coat, battle armour and you get to play with swords. As Aslan, King of Nairnia, aka Ken Musso, Artistic Director of te POOKa declaimed, “Being involved in Nairnia is terrific fun. It’s always hugely enjoyable visiting Nairnia and engaging with its citizens, and in particular it’s children. We can’t wait to move amongst everyone again!” Auditions for the coveted roles of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy took place on Tuesday 11 November with the four being chosen from members of Mellow Yellow Creative Arts, Nairn’s performing youth arts group, Inspire and any other young people who come along. All will be revealed on Friday 28 November 2008, with Nairnia 2008 – the Winter Procession beginning at 18:00 all over the High Street in Nairn. Why not come early and begin your Christmas shopping? The Project has been made possible through financial support from the Highland 2007 Legacy Fund, The Big Lottery’s Awards for All Fund and The Highland Council’s Nairn Discretionary Budget.
