Sandstone Press podcast
02 December 2008

In what they believe is a ʽfirstʼ for Scottish publishing Sandstone Press announces the appearance of a podcast interview on our newly released book A Bend In The Nile by Chris McIvor.

Interviewed before a live audience at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, Chris McIvor discusses the early years in Sudan that turned him towards a life in Development, mostly spent in Africa. Now Country Director for Save the Children in Mozambique Chris McIvor was awarded an OBE for services to the charity in Zimbabwe.

A Bend In The Nile will be the first book in a series that will shed an altogether different light on Development work. In a strong and sympathetic narrative Chris McIvor makes no attempt to disguise his early naivety. Now the author of many books on development such as ʽThe Earth in our Handsʼ and ʽWe Have Something to Sayʼ Chris McIvor continues to work in Africa and a clear eye and strong voice to his many powerful experiences.

The podcast is published on the Hi-Arts web site Northings as NORTHINGS 4: A BEND IN THE NILE. It is introduced by HI~Arts Jim McAuslan and can be accessed here http://www.hi-arts.co.uk/podcast
