| Youth Arts Festival closes application period for 2010 | |
| 05 February 2010 Aberdeen International Youth Festival, one of the world’s leading celebrations of youth arts, has announced the closure of the application period to participate in the 2010 Festival which will run from Wednesday 28 July to Saturday 7 August. Applications have been open to youth arts groups since August 2009. More than 30 unique acts are now being invited from across the world to join and express their diverse talents throughout the North East and beyond this summer. Each year, participating groups perform in a variety of high quality events and 2010’s line-up will include: African storytelling groups, a ballet school from Turkey, Hip Hop dancers from South Africa, a Theatre group from Israel, a Russian string ensemble, plus a strong representation of home-grown talent. Festival Director Stewart Aitken said: “I am delighted with the range of groups who have shown an interest in this year’s festival. It looks set to be an outstanding cultural event, showcasing performances to suit all ages.” Aberdeen International Youth Festival is already accepting applications for the 2011 and 2012 Festivals. Interest in the world-leading youth arts festival remains high, and many groups have already been provisionally approached to participate in coming years.
