Oil Paintings by Isabell Dickson and Vega at the Castle Gallery
12 March 2010

A duo of Highland artists, one from Lewis and the other from Inverness will be holding an exhibition of their oil paintings from the 8th of May 2010 at the Castle Gallery in Inverness.

The exhibition will consist of land and seascapes of local areas well known to the artists.

However, they bring a fresh approach to this type work. Both have travelled extensively throughout the world observing the changing landscapes, light and weather conditions. This broad and deep understanding of the effects of light and colour has informed their depiction of the Highland scenery.

The startling sunsets and clarity of light on the Isle of Lewis have had a profound effect on Vega’s paintings. She uses of bold, vibrant colour combinations to depict this starkly beautiful island and its surrounding waters in all weather conditions.

Isabell Dickson works outdoors wherever possible and her paintings are a response to the land and seascapes around her, using bold strokes and deep colour to capture the excitement and grandeur of the Highlands with authoritative simplicity.
