We regret that this scheme is now closed for applications

Bringing people together for a community event and showcasing our local talent and culture is central to fostering confident communities.

Often local events help kick-start a broader programme of community action by getting people working together, increasing participation and boosting membership of community groups. Relatively small amounts of funding can have a significant impact.

Open to constituted community groups, the Cultural Support scheme aims to support small-scale events across the cultural spectrum from the arts, culture and heritage activity.

1. Events – up to 25% of total cost or £2,999, whichever is the less.
Eligible events will meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Be new or of a “one-off” nature
• Pilot events to test future potential
• Be significantly different than normal
(e.g. special anniversary/bigger scale/new approach)

2. Training – up to 50% or £1,000 whichever is the less.

• Training of group leaders/member and artists
(Statuary and/or legislative training will not be considered e.g. child protection, first aid etc)

3. Equipment – up to 25% or £2,000 whichever is the less.

• New or improved equipment
(replacement of existing equipment will not be considered eligible)

4. Encouraging excellence – up to 25% or £1,000 whichever is the less

• Hosting and attending competitions

When to apply

Applications can be submitted at any time, but not less than FOUR weeks before the start of the project or activity for which the funding is sought.

We aim to give applicants a fast response.

The scheme is not intended to provide regular funding for annual events and is not applicable to events which are held in order to fundraise.

Once the current programme funds have been fully subscribed to, the programme will come to an end.
