Artist's Statement"At first in Glasgow I threw most of my energies into the production of outdoor events, parades and pyrotechnic spectacles. I then began continuing associations with UZ Events, Walk the Plank, Mischief la Bas and was a core member of the Glasgow-based events company Acme Presentations. In 1998 I co-found Scott Associates, a workshop and factory for the visual and performing arts. Also in 1998, I was invited to join the cast of Shockheaded Peter as an actor and animator, and toured internationally for seven years. Recently I have returned from a two month pilot residency in Sri Lanka studying traditional Sri Lankan puppetry. I would like to use the Tanera residency to continue to identify my practice and, frankly, to increase my visibility as a working artist, but most of all to re-acquaint myself (and share) in some epic natural theatre. | "When the chips are down", acording to unreliable second-hand accounts, the trawler "Boston Stirling", managed to hit the back end of Tanera while the crew were all below deck fighting a chip-pan fire. Reportedly they failed to give a position when they transmitted their mayday because they were "a bit embarassed". |
