Artist's StatementNikolai Noel was born in 1976 on the island of Trinidad in the West Indies. He sees being of mixed heritage as being an observer, not really belonging to groups and has found this to be an advantageous position for an artist interested in social and political occurrences. As well as creating his own work, he has been an animator for commercial video production and been involved with design and production of Carnival bands. |

| Everyone came out to meet him and watched him have a swim... got into a bit of difficulty and had to pull him out of the loch. He was hurt but did not let it show, we knew. we walked away with everyone and lagged behind (i was carrying him most of the way) until there was no one left, i turned around and took him back to the loch, and drowned him with a boat oar.
