| Anyway, the brilliant thing is that the main aim of
the Youth Journal is not simply to offer more articles for young people to read,
but an opportunity for to get your voices heard. I want to publish your
reviews and hear your opinions and ideas – so email me (admuir@btopenworld.com).
The Youth Journal will give bands, artists, photographers, dancers, in fact
anyone working in the arts between the ages of, loosely, 14 – 24, an opportunity
to show off what they can do.
For starters we have introduced the Virtual Juke Box. This is a
great concept where bands and individuals can send us a demo CD and we’ll put it
onto the Juke Box for readers/listeners/partakers of the website to
download. Eventually we intend to have the HI~Arts Chart with the number one being
dictated by how many downloads each track gets.
Next month we plan to bring you the first in a series of Mini
Masterclasses. These will be video and audio demonstrations of the ‘tricks
of the trade’ from professionals who work in the arts. We’re going to kick
off with a great guitarist and later on hope to feature all sorts of things from
how to paint sunlight on water to how to do the tango.
We live in a unique place at a flourishing time and there are more and
more opportunities for young people every day. The interview I did with
band promoter Rob Hicks shows this. There is a buzz going on and so far,
it seems that HI~Arts are putting their money where their mouth is in various ways,
which should help this buzz develop into something long-lasting.
So there’s lots going on, there lots more going to go on, and that’s all to
be going on with for now!
