- Mobile phones – Nothing spoils a film more than someone making a call on a mobile phone, or a mobile phone ringing. The best thing is to switch it off but, if you are expecting an urgent call, put it on silent ring/vibrate. If you need to make or take a call, please do it outside so you don’t disturb everyone else.
- Food – We don’t sell food or drinks at the Screen Machine because we don’t have enough room to store it or suitable facilities to sell it from. We also like the idea that the local shop benefits from our visit (one of the Screen Machine’s principal funders is Highlands and Islands Enterprise, so any increase in local commerce is always welcome!)

- Ssssshhhhh! Quiet please – Like a ringing mobile phone, chatting to your mate while you watch a film spoils everyone’s enjoyment. Films generally last for a couple of hours, give your vocal chords a rest and sit back and enjoy the film instead. If you don’t our usher might just ask you to leave if you become a pain in the neck to everyone else.
- Keep your hands down – Sticking you hands in the air to make funny shapes on the screen is not big and it’s not clever. It’s the oldest gag in the book. If you do it, stop it now!

- A call of nature – we all get caught short now and again, however if you or someone you are with needs to go to the toilet please try to cause as little disturbance to the rest of audience as possible.
- Unaccompanied Children – we recommend that all children under 8 years are accompanied by a responsible adult. Films can be scary for small children, especially if they are sitting alone in the dark. For certain films we also require that all under 16s are accompanied by a parent or guardian. The films this rule applies to will be clearly stated in our publicity material. This is unfortunately due to the behaviour of a minority of teenagers in virtually every location we go to.
